Day 38: Mommy Heidi @4.2kg

Heidi sometimes leaves babies and enjoys her own time out of her room lately. She spends most of her free time to look for food in the kitchen. She licks anything, pans, pots, spoons, etc. I'm sure I have worms in my body, too. I heard that Maria Callas or Naomi Campbell used to keep worms in their bodies to keep a good shape. Maybe I'd be so skinny soon, too.

Day 37: Carrying K2 @4.2kg

K2 is the smallest baby and meows a lot, so Heidi takes a special tender care of K2. I love to see Heidi carrying babies, but it's so difficult to take photos of it with my stupid camera. (Well, actually the problem is my photo skills though...)
K1: 200g
K2: 190g
K3: 230g
Heidi had diarrhea little bit tonight. But XiaoLuo made sure with the vet that she can take medicine for worms in 2 weeks, good. I have a slight cold (not H1N1) from Thu, so excuse me making only short article today.

Day 35: Before and After @4.2kg

Today I show you "Before and After" photos. These were taken on the same day, but the left one was taken right before the delivery, and the another was taken right after delivery. She looks almost same in these, but actually lost 700g for 4 days. Huuum, not bad. I wanna ask Heidi how to lose weight.
Ok, let's put babies on the scale.
K1; 180g
K2: 160g
K3: 205g
I heard that kittens grow only 10g a day on the average...

Day 34: Heidi lovers vol.2 @4.4kg

Today Heidi had a great time with Heidi's lovers after a long time. She's been so calm lately, but looked happy and so lively today. All my friends also want to see Heidi and her babies, too. I'm telling them to wait for a little while, but maybe I can invite them soon. Heidi trusts people now. Christin said that I can stay with Heidi for one more month. It pleased me a lot. I used to keep many strays in my place before, but Heidi is awfully special to me. BTW, I heard that the name of Heidi's come from the name of a canned food. Could someone show it to me in Chinese?
Today's "Let's step on the scale" is...Ta dah!!
K1: 160g
K2: 140g
K3. 190g(!)
Oh, Heidi's diarrhea completely got well. But I still really wanna get all worms out from Heidi asap and send them to hell...
PS: Pls take a look at the first photo. K3's got small nails on his fingers, so cute!

2/23/2010

Day 33: Heidi's worms @?kg

Today Heid got diarrhea again. I found lots of worm in her poo, I mean "a lot". The vet said "There is nothing we can do for worms during her nursing, we can't get her a shot or medicine now. She might be having pains around her vigina (still bleeding a bit, but it is the way it is) or teats (cuz of too much milk, I can massage them for her)." She often got on my knees and meowed (sounded like screams sometimes) a lot. I'll see how she is tomorrow and go see the vet, even though I can do nothing. She might be feeling so sick and asking me to do something for her. She still has an appetite and sleeps well, that's only my relief. Hearing her screams is so painful for me. Get well soon, Heidi. No photo today...

2/22/2010

Day 32: Giant K3 @4.4kg

Heidi got super appetite, it's much greater than before. I guess taking care of babies gets her hungry very much. I put her food far from babies and started weighting them. I suddenly found that Heidi already came back and waiting for me finish weighting right beside of me, no bothering, no upset, no anxiety. I was so surprised and amazed that she showed me her trust. And K2 started meowing, then Heidi got into the box with K2 in her mouth. That warmed my heart, really did. Heidi loves babies.
K1: 115g
K2: 100g
K3: 145g
The vet said that kittens gain 10g a day on the avarage. That means K3 is growing too much??? K3 might be a giant cat, bigger than Kun-kun...

2/21/2010

Day 31: Babies!!!

Late last night Heidi just kept walking around endlessly, couldn't keep still in one place, looked like so restless. I found that something was happening on her. Moreover, she suddenly had diarrhea badly and the poo was everyhwhere on floor, sofa, table, shoes, bed..., she even couldn't clean herself up. It wasn't like her. This morning, she started screaming (not meowing) a lot and seemed she didn't know what to do for the pain. She followed me and always tried to lie on my knees. I guess she was in anxiety or fear. Then later she's decided to have babies in the drawer for my cloth and didn't wanna get out from it. So I moved her heater, toilet, food, water, and turned lights off. I darefully kept eyes on what was going on in the drawer cuz I had to take care of kittens in the case Heidi didn't wanna raise them up, but it was a unnecessary worry. Heidi is a perfect mom. I took some photos and weighted them hiding from Heidi.
0600: started screaming for a pain and kept walking around
1000: hid herself in the drawer
1120: got the first baby, just looks like Heidi, so tiny 100g!
1205: got the second baby, also looks like Heidi, tinier 90g!
1255: got the third baby, little bit darker than Heidi, 115g!
During her meals, I weighted them again at night. They all gained 5 more g! I can't name them cuz Heidi is Christin's cat, so I'll call them K1 (The first baby), K2 (The second baby) and K3 (The third baby). K is K of kitten.

2/19/2010

Day 29: Yogurt @4.8kg

One more Heidi's favorite is yogurt. I like 香山牧場's yogurt from the Orange Mart and have it with some fruit compotes. She always runs up to me having yogurt and never gives up till I give it to her. My yogurt is low sugar and doesn't have a lactose, so ok for cats. We often share it. She can finish one third of the cup. Ah, no sign for delivery today either...

2/18/2010

Day 28: Meat Balls @4.7kg

I cooked meat balls for dinner and gave Heidi two of them which are specially made without salt, pepper or spices. She really loved it and finished them all in 10 secs. Both my cats don't challenge for food and happy to eat the same stuff everyday. I sometimes wonder why they don't get bored with it. Even I often don't feel like having rice. Anyway, Heidi's time is spent only on eating and sleeping now. Lucky you, Heidi!

2/17/2010

Day 27: Heidi in dream @4.7kg

Heidi's favorite places to sleep are my knees and sofa. Before she used to stay on the chair of dining table alone, but now prefers to be close to us. When I hold Heidi, I can feel babies moving around in her belly. One of them is very lively and you can see his/her legs are kicking Heidi's belly inside. When I spend a sweet time with Heidi, I often feel someone's eyes which is sharp and freezing. Then I look around and Ni-ni is always there. I guess Ni-ni is a very jealous person. Heidi, you better watch out when you walk at night, otherwise Ni-ni might...

2/16/2010

Day 26: My favorite parts of a cat @4.7kg

The cat are lovely creatures. Their body parts look all grace and their moves are so sophisticated. Especially Heidi's pattern is very symmetry and it's more than beautiful. But my favorite parts are so cute, the back of the head, paw and mouth, so lovable. Don't you agree??? PS: Heidi still eats a lot. There is no sign for delivery. After I found worms in her belly, I feed the well-balanced cat food to her as much as she wants to eat. Because I'm worrying that she'd be undernourished by worms. Then now Heidi's belly is getting huge amazingly. I hope that babies won't grow too big and she won't have hard time to give birth...

2/14/2010

Day 24: 紅包 @4.6kg

Heidi still has a huge appetite, that means she won't give birth within 12 hrs. (The notes which the vet gave me says "The cats stop eating about 12 hrs before delivery.) Heidi wanted to have my bread with chocolate spread, so I cooked chicken for her. It's is a "Red Envelope" from me. A Happy Chinese New Year!! PS: Ni-ni and Kun-kun are scared of fireworks or firecrackers, but Heidi. She is really something, great!

2/13/2010

Day 23: Heidi's belly @4.5kg

Heidi's belly is becoming bigger and bigger, looks almost exploding. I'm worrying about babies might be becoming much bigger than her pelvis and Heidi'll have a hard time to give birth. In my country, now people try not to raise a baby too big in belly. It's all same for human and animals. Anyway, I still can't see any sign for delivery on her. She is very stable as usual, eats a lot, doesn't wanna be alone. I guess I'm much more nervous than Heidi...

2/12/2010

Day 22: Relaxing Heidi @4.5kg

Heidi always stays in the living room whole day long, doesn't wanna stay in her own room. I lock her in her room when I have meals cuz she steals food, then she keeps screaming "Let me ooooout!". She doesn't like people bothering her, but also doesn't wanna be alone. Now she keeps our sofa to herself and have relaxing time. That Heidi looks so peacefully and it makes me happy too. Sleep tight and have sweet dreams, Heidi.

2/11/2010

Day 21: Favorite toy @4.4kg

I sometimes play with Kun-kun cuz she's too fat even though she's been on diet for 7 yrs. When she was chasing a rat toy, Heidi suddenly joined us and kept chasing it bothering Kun-kun. The way she lowers her body to hide herself and staring at the toy moving around, it looks just like a hunting lion and much wilder than my cats. Cool, Heidi!

2/10/2010

Day 20: Heidi's belly @ 4.3kg

I measured around Heidi's belly. Wow, it was 46cm! Now she loves me massaging her belly and it sometimes puts her in sleep. (But it sometimes doesn't and she bites and scratches me on a sudden...why???) Just fyi, Kun-kun's belly is 45cm, close to Heidi but lost! All my friends always say "How many days to go (for delivery)?" Nooooo, she is not pregnant, she even never had a boyfriend!

2/09/2010

Day 19: Cat nip @4.2kg

Today Heidi's mama and lovers came over to see her. Heidi knows she is loved by them, her cute meow drives them crazy and they watch her every move. Moreover, she always seems to be enjoying it. I gave her a new nail scratcher. She didn't get interested in it that much but a cat nip in the scratcher! She got very wild and rolled over on the floor. I've never seen such a lively Heidi. After Heidi lover left, she was still rubbing her body to the scratcher and purring, she was totally "stone". I hope she won't hang around the back alley at night and company with drug dealers. (It's only "if" there are cat nip dealers in a cat's world...)

2/08/2010

Day 18: Heidi & Kun-kun vol.2 @4.2kg

Heidi and Ni-ni still try to stay away each other. But Heidi and Kun-kun can sleep close now. I thought Heidi was difficult person like Ni-ni, but maybe not always. Heidi prefers to stay in the living room rather than her own room, but doesn't seem to be relaxed when Ni-ni is there. I hope Ni-ni can be more friendly to Heidi and three cats sleep on the same sofa together. BTW, someone left a nail scratcher and portable bowl for cats at the security of my building yesterday. I couldn't find any memo with it. Is this Christin?

2/07/2010

Day17: Wild Heidi @4.0kg

Today I cooked chicken and fed Heidi. Heidi wanted more, but I didn't wanna give her too much. After I fed other cats and returned the table, I saw Heidi eating a chicken bone "Crunch-crunch!" In my country, we don't feed chicken bones to dogs or cats because when cooked chicken bones (not uncooked bones) are crushed by their teeth, they're sometimes very sharp and stick in their throat or stomach. So I took the bone away from Heidi. Heidi got angry. Sorry Heidi, but for you...

2/05/2010

Day 15: Heidi's worms @4.0kg

This afternoon, I found something hanging from her anus. They're white, thin, flat, and looked just like fettucine. Some are short, but some are 30cm long! (Eeeek!!!) At first I thought they're worms cuz most strays have them in their inside. But I remember there're no such things in her poo. "Mmm, not worms?" Then I thought it might be a part of intestine. Oh, gosh! I rang Christin and went to see the vet. Fortunately they're worms. I asked my vet whether it's contagious to kittens later on, then he said "Positive". He also said they're probably tapeworms (条虫) from their length and shape, not roundworms (回虫) or hookworms (鉤虫). Well, to me, they're all same though... I'll keep my eye on Heidi anyway. (Warning: Today's photo might be graphic for someone, not cute at all.)

2/04/2010

Day 14: Baby Heidi @3.9kg

Heidi loves massaging Christin's cushion, she does it only on this red cushion. This behavior is often seen when kittens suck the breast. Maybe the feel of soft cushion reminds her of mom's breast. My vet said that more depending and babyish cats like massaging and it shows they're relaxed or comfortable. Ni-ni doesn't, but Kun-kun sometimes does it on my belly. Cuz my belly is so soft just like the red cushion with too much fat???

2/03/2010

Day 13: Love eating @3.8kg

Heidi enjoys eating so much! All the time I go to the kitchen, she follows me asking for food. I asked the vet how I should handle her keen appetite, then he told me not to let her overeat, just feed her 1.5-1.8 time amount of usual feeding based on her body weight, and better feed a cat milk for mature cats instead of snacks. So I asked my husband in Tokyo on business trip to buy a high-quality cat milk and special food for pregnant cats. I hope he can spare time for shopping. Today's photos show that Heidi started stealing food from Ni-ni and Kun-kun as I feed her less snacks now. Ni-ni doesn't care, but Kun-kun looks sad a bit to see Heidi finishes her food, saying "It's mine..."

2/02/2010

Day 12: My dear box @3.8kg

From my experience, most of the cats love boxes. I think it's because animals of the cat family have an instinct to hide themselves for hunting to survive. They also love a plastic bag, drawer, book shelf, shoe case, etc and seem to love something smaller or just right size for their bodies. When my cats were small, they often sneaked into the kitchen drawer and slept in pots and pans. (Just like this! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJMMOyFqTNg)

2/01/2010

Day 11: Got super close to Ni-ni @3.8kg

When Heidi went upstairs to patrol as usual, she ran into Ni-ni in the middle of stairs. They're growling each other keeping the same distance for 2-3 mins, then Heidi slowly (very very slow) got past Ni-ni for upstairs. As I told before, Ni-ni is so difficult. She accepts Kun-kun to live together, but still loves being alone. She sometimes looks like a philosopher who knows everything about life. I guess Heidi is difficult a bit too cuz she's kind of stubborn like an old man and always gets things in her own way. It actually attracts me a lot, I really like it. The cat should be very cat. They shouldn't be expected to wave their tails like dogs, should just stay the way they are. Cool!
